NDCAN: North Dakota College Access Network

Student Loans of North Dakota

Welcome to NDCAN

The North Dakota College Access Network (NDCAN) is teaming up with College Information Service (CIS) to provide you with important resources, tools, links and other information that will make your jump to higher education easier. CIS is a collection of information provided by Student Loans of North Dakota (SLND). CIS has been a resource to parents, students, counselors and financial aid administrators at North Dakota’s public, private and tribal schools since 1992. NDCAN and CIS are proud to pool its resources in order to give you a cohesive and simple way to navigate the challenges of accessing college and learn more about your options. Find information about early awareness for students of all ages, scholarship opportunities, college and career planning, and much more.

What is the North Dakota College Access Challenge Grant?

The North Dakota College Access Challenge Grant is provided by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the North Dakota University System (NDUS). The grant has established NDCAN, which works to increase awareness of college opportunities for all North Dakota citizens, with increased emphasis in providing outreach to students and families of underrepresented college backgrounds. NDCAN has established a statewide college access network of partners in North Dakota who work together to improve the capacity to assist students and parents to increase the number of under-represented students who enter and remain in postsecondary education.

RUReadyND.com, formerly known as Bridges Guidance Central, a software program provided by Bank of North Dakota, SLND and College SAVE, serves as the soft match for the grant. The software is provided to all public and private middle schools and high schools, and allows for career exploration, education planning and ACT test preparation.

With the help of the grant, NDCAN plans an annual conference. This year’s conference will provide breakout sessions about applying for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), college access topics for American Indian students, retention topics, teacher development workshops for teaching underrepresented students and many other sessions for educators, guidance counselors, students, parents and the community.
